 Special Announcements:
 
Three students at Baker Elementary have suffered material losses as a result of separate house fires. Kiara and Tiara Bishop lost their home in a fire over the holiday break and the students now live in a rental house. Darrius Lewis also lost his home in a fire recently and currently lives with his father in a hotel. Donations can be sent to Baker Elementary School. In addition to the items below, the families also need money. Contact Baker Office Manager Melissa Dearman at the school at 601-371-4327.

 

 

Kiara and Tiara Bishop

The girls are twins in pre-k and their clothing sizes are as follows:

Shoe size: 13 children's

Pants size: 5-6 girls

Shirt size: 5-6 girls

Their infant brother wears 3-6 months in clothes, sleepers, and diapers.

These students are now in a house. Blankets and household items will also be needed.

Darrius Lewis

Shoe size: 9 ½

Pants size: 18 boys

Shirt size: XL boys or men's medium

Darrius lives in a hotel with his father but has a refrigerator and a microwave. He would like some honey buns, Lunchables, fruit in the pop-top cans, chips, any other ready to eat foods, and toiletries.

 

A JPS family with students at Smith Elementary and Lanier High School lost everything in a house fire on Friday, January 13, 2012. The family is currently living in the Extended Stay hotel on I-55 in north Jackson and will be there for only one more night.

This is the family of Ray Echols, the Powell Middle School student who was killed by a hit and run accident over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Clothing Sizes of Students:

·       Arlene Echols, 1st grade - Shirts and pants size 6-8, shoes size 13

·       Kimberly L. Echols, 4th grade - Shirts and pants size 14-16, shoes size 10

·       Raytrone Echols, 9th grade - Shirt size 18, pants size 32 slim, shoes size 9.5

Besides clothing, other immediate needs for survivors of house fires include money and gift cards, ready-to-eat food, and toiletries.

Students should arrive to school daily by 7:45 a.m. If your child eats breakfast, he or she should be here by 7:25 a.m.
 
 
 
Remember, belts are a part of a child's uniform. Please make sure that your child is wearing a belt daily.
